Eating Vegetarian

Eating Vegetarian or Vegan in Lagos, Nigeria

Nigerian food isn’t vegetarian friendly (even if there’s no meat there’s often crayfish powder or chicken / beef stock). That being said, it’s pretty easy to eat vegetarian or vegan in Lagos!

Vegan / Vegetarian Local Food

  • Veggie Victory - classic Nigerian dishes made vegan. They have a physical location but we mostly order delivery. Pre-order recommended.
  • Michelle’s Vegan Kitchen - amazing (delivery only) vegan kitchen that can make a variety of local + international dishes. Pre-order a few days ahead. Just message her!
  • Clay Food - northern Nigerian food that can be made veggie friendly - Order masa + ask for the Miyan Taushe (pumpkin stew) or Miyan Kuka (baobab stew) to be made without meat. Also order Dan Wake if available (naturally vegetarian friendly bean dumplings with sliced egg) and Fura da Nono (delicious yogurt with millet).
  • Danfo Bistro / Danfo Secret Garden - while not traditionally Nigerian, Danfo Bistro has a lot of Nigerian inspired dishes that are veggie friendly
